Just hacked baby chicks at my Co Teachers house |
Today was an exceptionally good day even though it was Friday the 13th!! Yesterday, I went shopping to buy essentials but I had to go to the ATM first to draw money (I had 10 manats, about $13). We have in our city 2 ATM's, one at the bank and one at the post office. I went to the bank, no money in the ATM, I went to the post office, no money in that machine either. Hmm.. had to buy some groceries, so I spent 9.68, which left me with about .40 gepeck. At the market, I bought some cheese I wasn't sure what it was, but it looked like Gouda (my favorite), no where on the package did it say pendir (cheese in Azeri) but it was only 1.7 manat, what the heck if I don''t like it, I will give it to my neighbor. So, Friday, I went to the post office ATM again and whew, they had money in it, so now I can finish shopping (fruits and vegetables). So I bought onions, bell peppers, carrots, potatoes and oranges. I went home and chopped the onion, bell peppers and potatoes and sauteed them in my new awesome Teflon pan that my daughter-in-law sent (thank you Heather). Next, I broke an egg and mixed bacon bits (again THANK YOU Heather) together and poured that over the potato mixture. Hmmm, wow, it sure smelled good! After, I put a little butter in the frying pan and "toasted" bread (no toaster here). I fixed fresh coffee and opened the cheese. Hmm, I smell it, it smell like smoked Gouda, so I cut a slice...... OMG it was Gouda (all the writing on the package was in Russian). That cheese was awesome. My breakfast was the best meal that I've cook so far (the family here thinks I only eat popcorn!!). I've learn, that sometimes you have to just try something, even if you aren't sure of the results (most of the time, I am NOT so lucky) but I keep trying. Life is good.
