Appalachian to Arlington

The drive to Arlington, VA took us 8 hours but it was spectacular.  It was like going through the National Forrest that lined the roads with thousand of trees and the sun was bright with warmth and so inviting.  My friend drove down to North Carolina in torrential rains, so going back was a delight.  We followed our GPS along with the Cracker Barrel map route and we could have eaten our way to Arlington (hmmm biscuit and gravy, deep southern fried chicken, grits, okra, fried green tomatoes (yep it is real, not just a movie) - real southern comfort food), but fortunately we only stopped for breakfast and I tried to eat healthy (okay, bacon is not a green, but biscuit without gravy with butter and homemade jam is a grain almost!!).

There is so much to see here, I don't know where to start. I am here for 10 days so I have started an itinerary.  We will take a wine tour and go to Monticello to see Thomas Jefferson plantation and James Madison.  Here in DC, we will go to Constitution gardens and visit the Lincoln Memorial as well as the Vietnam, WWII, and the new MLK Memorial which is also near the reflecting pool.  Pictures and more info to follow.

This is a good transition before leaving the US.  As the time gets closer, I feel that this is my purpose in life.  My heart is calm and I feel joy.  We all have choices and I am so happy that this was one of them and I was encouraged by God.

We were walking on the promenade and saw these little guys bathing..  How cute it that!

Life Challenge: Lay out all of your choices, remember it is not about age, time or availability, it is about being true to yourself and your trust in God.
