"The man who gave meaning and honor and purpose to the nation speaks to us still" Lincoln Memorial
"Out of the mountain of despair - A stone of hope"
"The Ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort & convenience
But Where he stands at the times of Challenges and Controversy"
Martin Luther King Memorial
The memorials in DC are overwhelming. We are blessed to have had these men forge the roads of our history to make a better life for us. We are also blessed to have our soldiers sacrifice their lives for our freedom. How fitting that we honor these men. My father was in WWII, my 1st husband was a Vietnam vet, my nephew fought in Afghanistan, another nephew who has been in Iraq, so I know we all have someone we love at one point serving or had served in various wars to protect our freedom.
My slide show starts with Alexandria Waterfront, Washington's Memorial, Vietnam Soldiers Memorial, Washington Memorial from Lincoln Memorial steps, in the background is the White House. You can see the Reflecting pool is being re-constructed from the Lincoln Memorial and on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial is the engraving of where Martin Luther King "I had a Dream" gave his famous speech. Then the Korean war soldiers Memorial, an awesome life size of this army, the faces say it all. And Martin Luther King Memorial that just opened a couple of weeks ago, it is just amazing.
Life Challenge: Could you give up your life for others freedom? The Ultimate price was given for us and Jesus was the first. We are surely blessed. How about one day for volunteering?
