Peace Corps Staging to Azerbaijan

I am in the Turkey airport waiting for the flight to Azerbaijan and thought I would write a quick blog about the staging so far. It took three hours by car from DC to get to staging in Phildelphia. We had training from 2-7 PM on Thursday and checked out of the hotel at 8 AM on Friday heading to JFK in New York.  I think the bus driver got lost because we had a grand tour of Brooklyn, and the bus ride took 3 hours instead of  2 hours.  Oh the joy of it!  Then we had to get our boarding pass and the kiosk said to see an agent.  We get in one line and told by the agent we need our boarding pass to check luggage.  Then they decided to move us to another line and then they finally gave up and gave us our boarding pass and check our luggage. Whew, but the luggage mover didn't move and I had to drag them to the other end of the check in.  After all of that, I had to go through my favorite, security. Now I still have my carry on and back pack.  Pull out the computer, take off the shoes, pull out all cosmetics.  Put Lap top, backpack, shoes, and anything else through the x-ray machine. Thank God, nothing buzzed!!  Then it comes out the other end, put the shoes back on, put the lap top back, try to get everything together before the next person comes through and gets upset.  And that's just the beginning.  The flight was 10 1/2 hours so like I said, we are waiting for the flight to Azerbaijan and the wait time is 4 hours.  I am slowly fading...
