Kaylee and me |
Azerbaijan does not celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. So, I thought it would be fun for my conversation club to have a Halloween party. Since I have to go to Baku on Halloween, we decided to have it on Friday. Everyone MUST dress up with whatever costume they can make and buy a pumpkin at the bazaar. We will carve pumpkins and play games. Kaylee (my site friend) and I made Halloween decorations. You would be really surprise what you can make without going to Target or Dollar store and buy ready made decorations. It was some work but oh so much fun!! With my left over white scarfs, we made ghosts. With construction paper we made bats and monsters and I made a "bat" mobile!! Kaylee made a huge skeleton so they could play "Pin the Bone on the Skeleton". Kaylee and I worked on a "witch hat" for my costume which turned out AWESOME and I spray painted it black as you can see in the picture. I made pumpkin bread from scratch (which means, boiling a fresh pumpkin and scraping out the insides). We then went over to my counterparts house early to put up the decorations and get ready for the party. We put on "The Nightmare Before Christmas" movie and played scary music. The children came and changed into their costumes and they carved their pumpkins (green ones I might add). They bobbed for apples and played pin the Bone. We gave away all the decorations as prizes. The children had an GREAT time and they will be talking about this for a while. Oh yes, I was a "green" witch, kind of look like the witch from the "Wizard of Oz" I used green sparkle eye shadow to cover my face! See all the fun pictures!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
