Teaching Azerbaijan Way

Okay... this week will be another challenge (a norm at this point for me) as we will start teaching. We are given a schedule but other than that nothing else.  We will have maybe 5 minutes or Zero minutes before the class starts to see what the lesson will be for that day. As the PC from last year told us,  just go in and wing it.  We observed classes this week, and I have to tell you the bar is pretty low.  But going in without prior knowledge of what the lesson is and having to teach is pretty stressful to say the least. The grades we will teach will be from 5-9th grade. And we don't have extra anything for games or projects.  So I will be using the blackboard a lot.  I have technical and language for 6 days and Sunday is for laundry, shower (yea), language study (yuck) and lesson plans. But how do you make a lesson plan when you don't know what the lesson is!!  The weather has been really nice around 70 degrees, so it has been pleasant walking to and from school.  It is about 3 miles around trip.  Because my diet has changed, I am taking a high potency vitamin and mineral.  I have learned that it is important to have a positive attitude and when situations happen, make the best of it. You know I could be living in Africa, with a hut for a house, no running water and a hole in the ground for a toilet (oh yea, I do have a hole in the ground) but at least I am in a house with running water even if it is outside!!

Life Challenge:  Change is imminent but flexibility is optional.
